I live quite rural, so my truck doesn't get very many highway-speed miles on it very often. I only have about 3500 miles on it, but at this point it has used no oil. I will do an oil change at 5000, then probably +/- every 5000 miles after that. And because the manual says I can go up to 8000 miles in between, that gives me a margin of error in case I don't have the time to get it done when it's due.

The worst thing(s) for ANY engine is long idle times and short runs in cold weather. I'm still driving my 09 TRX4 with 5.7 Hemi. I run Restore and Protect 5w20 in that now and have already picked up a 2 mpg increase while on the first oil change. Before I ran Valvoline's full synthetic, then High Milage after hitting 90 k. No leaks and not burning any oil. I live in Western New York in the salt belt. The body is finally starting to go so I'm looking at 2500s with the 6.4. Oil seems to be an issue for a lot of people.
