Hey everyone, this will be the build thread for my 21 Power Wagon. The plan for this build is to make it a fun commuter with some improved overlanding / offroad capabilities. I will post pictures of all parts and I’ll do my best to write reviews on everything and do some install tips and tricks for anyone looking to do any of these mods themselves. I welcome all advice and tips from anyone who has a power wagon…if you know of a better part or recommend something else please let me know! Below are the parts currently ordered and the ones that are upcoming in the near future. I look forward to talking and getting to know everyone throughout this build!

Parts ordered:
  • Factory 55 Ultrahook Winch hook
  • S&B Intake
  • Moes Performance Ported Throttle Body 87mm
  • Borla S-type exhaust Part #140801BC
  • Ram All WX floor mats
  • Bulletpoint Mounting solutions: Dual 20mm Ball Dash Phone Mount

  • My Medic MYFAK med kit
  • Nextbase 622GW 4k Dash Cam

  • 35” Nitto Ridge Graps / Cooper STT Pros (Not decided yet)
  • AMP research steps
  • Full Thuren suspension w/ front and rear track bars
  • Fox or King steering stabilizer
  • ARB tire repair kit
  • Winch recovery kit (haven’t decided on a brand yet)
  • GJ motorsports third brake light w/ baja design pods
  • CJC motorsports fog light bracket w/ baja design cubes
  • Putco Blade LED Bed light

  • Tuning (Possibly hemifever..still undecided)
  • I’m open to any parts suggestions too, would love some input!

That’s it for now, I’ll keep this list constantly updated on parts ordered and future / upcoming parts.
Nice truck. I just picked up a 75th as well and was looking at adding the Borla exhaust. I couldn’t find the cat back kit online, so I emailed Borla. They informed me that a system wasn’t available for the 19 - current models and it was under development. Have you installed yours and if so, how is it working out?
Thank you
John

Hey John, I have an order placed for the exhaust but unfortunately it is on a 2 week back order and it should be here around the first week of September. Several forum members have this exhaust and they claim the 14-18 exhaust does fit the 19+, so I am going off of what others have done. With that said, once it comes in I will re-verify this and get back to you.

David,
Thank you for the timely response. I look forward to reading more about your build. I installed the Attack system on my wife’s 1500 and she loves it. I considered Magnaflow or MBRP , however the reviews are mixed and without hearing one in person, I don’t feel comfortable purchasing either one. Good luck with your back orders.

I have a Borla S-Type exhaust on my 2019 Power Wagon. It fits fine, and sounds great. Part #140801. Sprayed the whole thing high temp matte black. Not sure why they say it doesn’t.

I was in the same boat, I couldn't decide between the magnaflow or MBRP either...I think MBRP sounds perfect for diesels but I still have mixed feelings on how the gas clips sounds. However, I still haven't heard one in person which I'm sure would change my mind. I've never ran a magnaflow but I've ran a couple of Borla systems in the past and their systems are top notch, a tad pricey but worth it. After hearing other forum members with it I decided to go this route. I will happily post some exhaust video's after the install if you haven't made a decision by then.

Thank you for this! I ordered the same one but with the Black tip..and thank you for the high temp paint idea, I may go that route as well.

Heck yeah! AFE makes quality parts as well! Feel free to post an exhaust sound clip on here once you get it installed.

Welllll I pulled a big trigger today, I decided to place an order for a full Thuren suspension after deciding I wanted to stuff 37" Cooper STT Pros underneath the wagon.

Parts Ordered:
Thuren FOX 2.0 REMOTE RESERVOIR FRONT KIT POWER WAGON (2014-2022) 1.5"
Thuren REAR COIL KIT POWER WAGON (2014-2022) stock height
Thuren FOX 2.0 ATS DAMPER RAM 2500 (2014-2022)
Thuren rear FOX 2.0 IFP SHOCKS POWER WAGON (2014-2022)

Ill order the 37's once I get the suspension installed so they aren't taking up too much space in the garage. I also heard a rumor discount tire offers military discounts + forum discounts if your on the gladiator forums or a forum where they are a sponsor? Anyone know if this is true? If so I'll go sign up on another forum for the discounts lol. Thanks in advance.

Thank you. That’s good enough for me, I’ll get one on order.

Yes Discount tire offers military discount, but for the life of me I cannot remember the process. It was all online, trying to remember if I had to submit a DD214.

WOWZA!!!!

Do you know what product they used? And did they do everything (glass/paint/wheels/interior etc.) or just the paint? And if your dont mind, what was the cost? I wonder how much paint correction was needed….

TRUCK LOOKS GREAT!!!

Luckily, they have the verifyID button now. You just log in, provide your name, branch served, and dates and they verify you off of that. Easy peasy.

I don't know the exact brand unfortunately, they call it their 9-year titanium ceramic coating. Yes, they did everything! They did the 9 year on all painted surfaces and a 3 year coating on the wheels, all plastics, all glass, and all interior. Not much paint correction was needed, he said only two spots really needed it, the truck was built on 6/29 and delivered two weeks ago so the paint was good for the most part. Total was $1700 for everything.

I just wanted to re-confirm that the 14-18 Borla S-Type exhaust (Part #140801BC) DOES fit the 19+ perfectly.

Here are a few side-by-side shots, sorry for the quality I took these around midnight.

Fit and finish is perfect! Also, the Borla exhaust is at least 30lbs lighter than the stock exhaust...so that should equate to at least 3 extra mpg's right? :p

Sorry guys, I've been slacking on updates. I transitioned back to nights and its been throwing my schedule off but there are more pics and updates coming soon, I promise.

Since the last update, I had all the windows wrapped in ceramic tint w/ 80% clear on everything in the back, 20% for the front two, and a transitioning ceramic which does 55% during the day and 75% at night on the windshield.

Installed the Nextbase 622GW dash cam.

I ordered the factory bed step (82215842AH), it came in today and I'll let everyone know how the install goes.

Received confirmation today that the Thuren suspension shipped! Super excited to get this installed and then source some 37s.

Also, I wanted to give an update on the Moe's ported throttle body and S&B intake. If gas mileage matters to anyone, I was up approx .5 mpgs after the install, but that could also be the truck breaking in as I only have 800 miles on the odometer. There was definitely a throttle response improvement, everything in the first 3 gears felt smoother. Since the truck is so heavy, I couldn't really tell a HP improvement from my butt dyno. However, I never really floored the truck under the 500 mile mark to get a good baseline. There is definitely a sound improvement, I think I heard in more in my exhaust than anywhere else. Yes, you do hear awesome suction noises with the S&B but it also increases the throatiness of the exhaust as well...I've never had an intake setup do that which I am very happy with. The Borla exhaust sounds soooooo good. I recommend it to anyone, there is ZERO drone.

Next up will be tuning, still undecided between HP tunes and Hemifever tunes. I was waiting for at least the 1k mile mark before I tuned the truck to make sure everything was good and broke in. Anyone have a preference over the other? Anyone recommend anything else for custom tuning? trying to stick away from the canned tunes.

Here is a side pic of the truck tinted, I'll get some better pics posted soon of it.
