2018 ram tradesman. Sometimes I'm driving and I get a random ding. Sounds like the seat belt warning to be honest.

I can't recreate it. It's annoying as hell. Any ideas?

I can only sympathize. I had a similar situation in my Wrangler where it would randomly chime but the warning would disappear so quickly I couldn’t get eyes on it. It took me a couple of months to find out was an error message regarding “performance limited” that wasn’t even really happening. Just a phantom.

I wish the programmers would make errors persist for a minimum time to allow drivers to identify the reason.

I recently had that same thing happen on a 2015 Challenger that I had just bought used. Riding along on I-85 and would get a ding with what I thought was just a flash of red from the instrument cluster. After about the third time this happened in just a few miles something occurred to me. I reached down and pulled the park brake release handle. It just barely clicked as it came back to the top position. Apparently I had bumped it with my 14x7 foot as I got in and when I hit a sufficient bump in the road it would operate the brake warning light and give me a wake up ding.

If you have anything on front passenger seat it could be that. On my 2015 the warning light for passenger seat belt is on top console by rear view mirror. Not a place you usually check for warning lights after a ding.

Is anything placed on the right front passenger seat when this happens?

Check out the seat belt sensor :waytogo:

If my GSD is in the Right Front seat, I have to put in my seat belt clip, or I get Dinged to death, lol the GSD is just shy of 100 lbs. Funny my 79 lb boxer I can get away w/o the clip.

The only thing that is in the front seat is my wife, who has the seatbelt on. There is no dash/warning light, it happens maybe once a week. Turn signal is not on. I will keep watching for it..

I get a few dings now and then. Front park sensors in the snow is the most common for me. I've always had a message come up on the dash whenever it happens. Whether seatbelt, low tire pressure, park sensors, service air suspension or a cel. Check the dash display under messages when it happens. If it's intermittent it'll clear off the message once it no longer detects it, but it will store the codes so if you have a code reader you should be able to narrow it down.

Does it happen when you are slowing down to stop? If so it's the park sensors. Mine do it every time it rains or the sensors are wet. It's very annoying...

My 21 has done that within the past couple weeks. I'll get one single ding randomly and the dash will blink red for a less than a second. I think it's a park sensor but it happens so randomly and fast that I can't tell. There are no warning lights or check engine light so I'm not too concerned because I know those park sensors are very sensitive. I had a bug splatter on one and it activated the system

I never saw the seat belt indicator on the dash light up, but now that I think of it I put seat belt extenders in, and I not heard that thing in a long time. Sounds like it might have had something to do with it, and with a seat belt extenders snapped in all the time it stopped it apparently.

That why I mentioned it. Driver's seat belt warning is in dash but passenger warning light is up by rear view mirror. Not a place you usually look for a idiot light when you hear a charm.

Setting things on the seat might do it , but it could be just about anything . My 2016 3500 cummins drove me nuts for a couple months when I first got it . The service def system message would pop up stay on for abit then go away , no codes . 8 trips to dealer , even took a picture of it cause I was going crazy , but couldn't figure it out . Finally tripped the MIL and got a code . Took less than 5 minutes to fix , bad connection causing an error. Good luck cause there's nothing more annoying than the ding and trying to figure out why .

Yes, It happens to me also but only when I hit a big pot hole or bump in the road. When I hit something hard I will hear the ding sound and the ABS and another RED light flash for a second. Then it goes away just as quick.
