I heard that changing the sparrk plugs on these trucks would not be a walk in the park, and last night I found that out. Only took me a little over 2 hours to get it done!! I am use to changing spark plugs on 4 cyl. engines. I am only 5'5", and the ones closest to the firewall invlolved me using a 5 gallon bucket to stand on, then with the brake booster on the driver side and hoses on the passenger side playing "cover up", I was starting to get agitated. But, When I screwed the last coil pack back on, I popped open a beer, took my truck for a test drive, and was proud I was able to git er done with no screw ups!!!

Good job. It can be a pain the first time around, but it will be much easier for you now on round 2. I am tall enough to reach the back plugs, but my hands don't fit so well in some of those hard to reach areas.

Try 9" of lift and 37s haha.

2 hours isn't bad at all. I think I'm going to finally do mine next Saturday. I'm allowing an entire day for it, so if only takes me 4-5 hours I'll be thrilled.

Shoot, I'm 6'4 and I still stood on a bench to change my plugs.
It's a task, not difficult, but time consuming.

You guys need one of those things like that guy had on Road Warrior that picks you up. The wrench who working on them. "last of the V-8's" White yours might be easier if you rolled it over on it's side. :)

Cool it only takes 2 hours. I guess I'll look around in there so I'm familiar before I actually tackle it. What kind of plugs did you end up getting?

U say 2 hours, but it was more like 2 1/2 hours. I used OEM Mopar plugs. I read somewhere that these engines are picky with aftermarket plugs. It isn't hard to do, but like a lot of guys confirm, it is just tedious and requires different length extension. Also, I used a ratchet with the three different flex points that bend in 90 degree angle, along with an extension with three joints that bend (forgot the name of it).

Holy sweet unmerciful crap! Ya'll make this WAY harder than it needs to be.

A plug socket, a 1" and a 3" extension and a 3/8 drive ratchet.
Done.

Keep in mind, this was my first plug change in this truck. Big change from only 4 plugs I'm a Fusion with both feet planted on the ground to 16 plugs and having to darn near crawl into the engine bay. The next time will be quicker and easier. Oooh, not to mention the chill factor last night was in the 20's, and I am glad I didn't wake up this morning having to call in sick to work. :)

...ooh, and for those who don't have a magnetic socket, I used a piece of 6" water hose to fish out the plugs and get the new ones started.

I know, I know. Let's just say it's one of those things that I haven't exactly been looking forward to doing...mostly because I don't know how I'm going to reach them. haha
