The Plan.As some of you may know I live in Alaska. But I purchased my vehicle from Dave Smith Motor's Located in Kellogg, ID. I purchased my truck there from a guy named Dan Black; Here is his Email if anyone is interested in getting a Quote or information on a new or used vehicle. Tell Him I (Anthony Smith) Sent you. Anyway, so I purchased and ordered my truck through them. When It arrives I will be flying down to pick her up and drive her home. But it's not quite the straight forward trip most of y'all would expect. My dad, the loving father that he is, want's me to pick up a 14' Dump Trailer in Cody, WY. Approximately 4,100 lbs. Then drive all the way over to Torrington, WY. To pick up two pieces of farming Equipment to put on the trailer. A potato planter (400 lbs) and a potato Digger (1,500 lbs) Totaling up to be about 6,000 lbs I'll have to haul up to Alaska. Did I mention I have no real experience with trailers? I guess I now have a crash course. Here is a an Example of my travel plan. I say its only an example because I'd like to drive through Yellowstone while I'm near by but Google Maps won't let me route my trip through the passes at the moment. My original plan was to pick up the truck and drive home, about 2,400 Miles. But with all the equipment I'll be grabbing the trip is now about 4,000 miles, of which only the first 500 is load free. So I wont have a very solid Load free HWY MPG, But I'll have the best towing HWY MPG on the web at the time of completion. I'll have everything from mountain passes to long straightaways.
Edit: I've posted an itinerary of sorts that can be found here, or under updates.Discovering the "Little Diesel"
Since October of 2013 I was in the market for a new vehicle. I am currently a proud owner of a '03 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE Extended Cab 4x4 with the 4.8L V-Tech. During my initial search for a new vehicle I was looking for something more fuel efficient then my 12/17mpg truck. I started off looking at a Dodge Dart Limited. It was nice, but to small. Dodge Avenger, Nice but not amazing. Kia Optima 2.0L Turbo... Man that thing was a beast! but it was pushing 35k... More then I wanted to spend for a car. Finally I started to settle for a Subaru Legacy. Comfortable to drive but that was about it. Around November a friend told me about Dodge's latest Ram, The EcoDiesel. Thats when I knew I'd be selling my truck and getting a new one. After spending months trying to gather information and pricing everything. Learning about all the options I decided to go the the Longhorn Addition. WAY MORE then I originally wanted to spend on any vehicle but I found a way to justify the cost. I figured, I was about to buy a car for efficiency probably costing close to 25k. Then when my truck brakes I'll need a new one... 35k? Well... It'll hurt but as long as I stay under 60k I'll be technically buying two vehicles in one and saving a small fortune on insurance.
On February 7th, EcoDiesel orders opened up. First thing that morning I got one on order. This is the info from my official order form if anyone is interested. Edit: Now that my vehicle has been invoiced you can see the official window sticker here
A few weeks later, I got my VIN number from my Sales rep so I could track the status of my truck
