Not sure if anyone has done it yet, but I enabled the factory integrated trailer brake module tonight with success. The option I turned on was ITBM/HWM Integrated Trailer Brake Module. Everything seems to work. I got the trailer options in the EVIC and if I slide the controller on the dash it increases the gain like it should. Even added the gauge on the cluster to show how much brake was being applied. I saw a couple CSM options for the ITBM which I am going to explore and see what that provides.

Thank you for confirming. I have it listed but was unable to fully test as I don’t have everything installed. See the list for the ones I set earlier.

Just checking. Have you looked in settings under AV/OEM setup?

Also, as far as I know under program customer features is the only place to turn off and on this feature. However, there is a setting in the BCM called Horn Chirp Allowed.

As you and others have said this about the “AV/OEM” setup on aftermarket units with maestro...I went back out and looked again as I clearly wasn’t getting it.

On my particular Kenwood, there is only an “AV” icon after entering setup. I must have tapped that icon a hundred times and saw the submenu “OEM” there, but wrongly thought it was just AV setup stuff particular to the kenwood, not the truck.

I also know that I’ve hit that OEM Setup

submenu several times and not see anything logical beyond that. I do know that I previously got as far as the vehicle settings submenu and gave up as it was grayed out. Turns out that menu doesn’t display the full title that indicates key must be in on/run position to access that menu (similar to the OEM head unit).

So, I turned on the key and it is all there. I didn’t try changing anything since after a couple hours trying to change settings with AlfaOBD, I gave up and threw the old h/u in to make the change (it took), and then hooked the kenwood back up. [emoji849]

All is good now and I actually understand my head unit much better now.

But still doesn’t explain why I couldn’t change it with AlphaOBD. And I did fiddle with trying to turn off horn chip in the BCM as well.

Glad you got it worked out. I’ve always done everything with ignition in the on but engine off.

Sounds like a bug in Alfa. I know it used to work as I have tried it before. There are a few settings under program customer features that instantly take (can actually watch it toggle on 8.4) or at least used to. One of the updates may have borked it?

I see there is a cable to bypass the security that FCA had put in place on the 2018 models. I have a 2018 Express. Is the bypass needed for all functions, or just for the wireless? Ie keys, and tpms?

I believe you need the bypass on the 2018 to access anything on the OBD connector. Send DeereGuy (at the top of this page) a PM, I'm sure he can verify.

Well, that was fairly easy. Successfully activated the turn signal DRLs on quads. Not even a factory option like it is on my Dart and Challenger. The CSM value also added the selection to the lighting menu on the 5.0. Interestingly 2 of the 5 required settings were already activated from the factory. It did take a while for the changes to set but it was maybe a half hour.
Next up, front windows down with FOB.
Using the Windows 10 version of AlfaOBD, once I ot the hang of where to find the settings it was easy. Thanks to Ghost Ram and the other pioneers of this thread.

EDIT> I just wanted to add that while I was able to set the DRL location and customer setting with the key in the accessory position, the DRL CRM failed. I had to back out of the program, reconnect the MX and have the key in the run position (engine off). Then the DRL CRM change was successful.
I probably missed the required key position for programming. I suspect it is Key Run Engine Off despite my limited success with Key Accessory Position. Any feedback is appreciated.

Following for the outcome of the tire change - not critical, as I suspect I will get a Pulsar or Diablo soon regardless - but would be nice to be able to change it in the meantime if for nothing else the shift points. I notice there is a Toyo AT 35" in the list which would probably be perfect for me... if it actually worked :).

I haven't bought the AlfaOBD program yet (I do have the MX)- I had planned on getting the android version and running from a tablet, but sounds like the Windows version is more organized, easier to navigate/find items?

I contacted the Dev to see if something is up. Maybe I’m missing an additional step or something. I’ll update as soon as I can.

I got the Android version. It is a lot of scrolling, but you learn where things are pretty quick.

You are correct, Key Run Engine Off is normally what is needed.

Hello All,

Have a 2014 Tradesman 2500 that I upgraded to push button start from Auto Tech Electronics. Learned a hard lesson the other day..... that if you leave the FOB in the truck and lock the doors using the switch on the door, you get no warning and the truck will go ahead and lock the doors. Then when you walk away and go to grab your keys out of your pocket and they're not there...well....sh#$&!!!.

Coworker has a loaded 1500 and his truck will not let you lock the doors using the door lock switch, if the FOB is detected in the truck. The doors will unlock and give a warning. My car does this too.

Thinking of buying the scan tool/AlfaOBD combo but was wondering if any of you that have this setup, know if the "don't let the doors lock and give us a warning of the FOB is inside" feature is available?

Thanks,

Dan

I'm curious... some of the BCM features are only available on the newer truck (i.e. reverse cam in motion). I wonder if you could successfully swap in a 2017 BCM to a 2015 truck. Any thoughts?

20 pages, and almost 800 posts. that's a lot to read. Is there a concise list somewhere of what this setup gets me?

Check the links in my sig and also the first post has links to the developers site as well.

Edit: It really all depends on what you're looking to do.

Thanks for that. I guess I'm not sure what I want to do other than DRLs. I think I need other hardware to make things like "Tilt mirror on reverse" which I understand requires a different memory seat buttons to make work.

I don’t have the memory seats at all in my Express and have tilt in reverse. I’ve only installed the premium mirrors. No door modules or switch either.

hmmm. maybe that'w worth the price of admission. I believe I have the premium mirrors. they heat up with a button, so if that makes them premium I'm in.

Very few of the mirrors have the memory function and are able to do the Tilt in Reverse. Usually the Laramie mirrors would be equipped correctly. You can tell that they're off of a Laramie because they'll have the Chrome cover. If you want to make sure you have memory mirrors that are capable of the Tilt function I would recommend pulling the door panel check the white connector on the mirror and if it has more than 4 wires it is a memory mirror.
