Hello, I bought a brand new 2018 2500 yesterday and ran into a weird issue. When I open my doors, I don’t get any interior lights on to light up the cab. I even messed with the sliding knob to the left of the steering wheel but could only get the lights on if I manually turn them on. The manual says the knob should be all the way to the right to activate the courtesy lights, but nothing.

Am I doing something wrong?

I experience something similar except that the interior lights will work as they should for 5 or so door openings (w/out key in ignition) but then, nothing.... unable to force them on w/ the dimming knob but as soon as I put the key in the ignition & turn it to key on / engine off, the interior lights work again... weird issue. I was thinking it was my LED interior bulb swap that was causing it, didn't notice this happening before that. Following this thread as it's the only issue I have but it is definitely an annoying one.

stupid answer but make sure the wheel under the headlight switch isnt set all the way down, This will keep the lights from turning on. If you turn it all the way right I believe it will click and turn on all the lights manually. If this works its likely because you have the switch turned all the way down.

Hello, I'm having the same exact problem with my new 2018 ram 2500. Took it into the dealer and they said its probably the aftermarket 3rd brake light. Its not aftermarket. Its factory light.. same with cab/roof lights. Hopefully someone can help...

I'd take that right back to him and tell him exactly that. It's factory and you want this to work correctly.

Make sure the wheel you are adjusting is the headlight dimmer and not the a/c vent adjuster. One is right above the other.

I'm having the exact same problem. Works immediately if I plug the key in, but about half the time, the lights do not come on if the engine has not been started between door opening.

Someone mentioned about 5 or so openings, that seems inline with what I experience. I've also swapped out my dome lights with LED.
