I've been having the nozzle stuck problem a lot more recently. There's a lip on the pump nozzle and it gets caught. I just put my finger on the nozzle just above the fuel filler neck and lift up and towards the truck to get it unstuck. You don't see it on the anti splash etc nozzles, but if you reach under when it's stuck you'll understand.

Once you take a moment to figure out how it's getting hung up it's easy to remove every time. The newer nozzles in my area all get stuck the same way regardless of brand. Better than the other methods. Twisting, yanking, cursing or leaving it in there and driving away. Downside is now I have to find a new way to vent my rage.lol

I know there was a lawsuit filed against FCA about this filler nozzle issue, which they know about but refused to recall, is there any update on it that anyone knows of?

I just gas up at a couple pumps that I know don't get stuck, and just be very careful at others, but it should be replaced by FCA.

Just dropped the truck off at the dealer. They know about the issue and it looks like they'll install the updated filler tube under warranty. We'll see...

At risk of hexing it I think I'll keep that quiet for now... see how they perform first. I will say I'm in Southern California though, I think you're in Northern California

I went to the same dealer about a year ago and talked to one of the service guys who's no longer there, and at the time he had pretty much committed that if I brought it in they would look at it and most likely replace it. He even said his truck had the same problem. I mentioned that right away when I talked to them today. I told him this is a known issue and it needs to be taken care, and they reacted well.

At first he was going to have me run gas tank down to a quarter and come back another day because he thought I was having problems filling it, and they may have to go into the gas tank etc, but I told him it's filling fine, it's just that the nozzle gets stuck, so they went ahead and took it in with almost a full tank.

Keep us updated!!!! And GET THE YELLOW SLIP! If we can get a part number or TSB or recall number or something we can all finally rush the dealers at the same time to get this addressed hah. Personally I’ve just inserted it sideways at around 4,5 o’clock very lightly and take it out the same way and seems to work but first time this happened I was freaking out. Could be a scary situation if it happens to some poor woman at midnight. In which case that would be a NASTY lawsuit....

I'll keep you updated. When I went in a year ago they were trying to dismiss it saying "I never heard of this". I kept talking to one of the guys and finally he got around to admitting they had to send a mechanic out to a gas station to free a nozzle from a lady's truck, then he said his truck did the same thing. I don't think there's any recall or TSB on it yet, I think they're just maybe going to quietly do it under warranty if you make some noise and insist on it.

By the way the first time it happened to me I was freaking out too. Now I'm just very careful, and as I said I know which nozzles at the local station work, and which ones don't. You have to be very careful not to push it too far or you're screwed. If it doesn't seal with a nozzle, just move up to the next pump and try that one.

Yea I been waiting for a resolution to arrive before making a big stink myself. Lol that’s embarrassing something so simple got screwed up. Once we get some documentation we should all be able to go from there. Hopefully you can take one for the team! Well all appreciate whatever outcome even if they still blow you off you tried!

Yea it was at the worst time I was in a rush and the station was super busy and people lookin at me like I was ******** haha day one Ram owner had me skeptical.

I go to any and all stations (now favoring non-ethanol) and I don’t even worry about the seal I barely seat it to where it stays in and doesn’t fall on the ground and that seems to work for the most part. But so true you go too far in you’re screwed, JUST THE TIP is how I pretty much do it now and she seems to like it so far haha

am glad to read that it is not just me, that others have a problem with the nozzle hanging up in the tank.
I find that on some pumps I have to hold back on the vapor recovery boot while filling so it does not hang up in the filler.

I got it stuck once when i first got it, couldn't get it loose for anything. Took over ten minutes before it finally popped out now I just hang it there without pushing in, stops the clicking off. But I have to watch it to make sure it doesn't come out too.

According to a class action lawsuit I've seen the filler tube changed in 2015 and continued through 2019 with the too-steep design. It should be a total recall, and I have noticed that @RamCares has not weighed in on this thread.

The first time mine stuck it was stuck solid. It was the first time I gassed it up. Fought it for 10 minutes, then even asked the station owner to give it as shot. Finally I kept moving and yanking and it came out. Thought I was going to rip off the side the truck!

NO excuse for this. Never gave it a second thought when I gassed up my F150 for 18 years, or any other vehicle I've owned. Just shove the nozzle in, and it popped right out when done. Should hear from the dealer soon...

I believe the new part number is: 68448220AA

In typical FCA fashion you might be better off ordering and installing it yourself!

That was suggested way earlier in this thread, but it's a matter of principle. FCA effed up, they need to make it right.

When I make a mistake in my work, I don't ignore the customer's calls, pretend there was no mistake, or just tell them to fix it. I apologize, then drive out and make it right, no charge.

I completely agree, the problem is that getting FCA (or most any large corporation) to fess up and do the right thing is like trying to get blood from a stone.

We'll see. If they do deny it I'm going to ask the service writer to come with me to the gas station and fill it up with one of the nozzles I know doesn't work, and video it

Service adviser just called, said the new filler tube is installed, and the truck will be washed and ready to pick up in an hour. Said to go try the nozzles that were getting stuck, and if I still have problems, bring it back in.

Big kudos to Orange Coast Chrysler Jeep in Costa Mesa CA :D

Great news!

If they give you paperwork, please post back if there is a part number on it. Im assuming it was the 68448220AA part but it would help to know if its different.

Thanks.
