19 ram 1500 Classic is a 4th gen 'DS' truck (not a 5th gen DT).

You also need a OBD Port Security Bypass harness for all 2018+ trucks.

Thanks for the reply, my security bypass harness is on order, waiting for it to come in, along with my ridiculously high priced OBDLink MX+ ($145 CAD) lol.

Okay, so it is a DS then. Reading through an article on Google initially said that the 1500 classics are DS, but then when they started to describe the DTs, my warlock was being described.

So if it is infact just a DS, then I would use the "MY2019 PowerNet" correct?

Dang, even with programming keys/push button start? I've done a good amount of alfa work to my truck that I'm not worried about, just curious if I'd be able to start it to drive off afterwards with these haha
I assume that would "brick" your truck till you re alfaOBD'ed the settings

IMHO AlphaOBD NEEDS a save/restore feature

With the push to start add on you will still be able to drive the truck after the dealer flashes you back to your original vehicle build .
You will just have to enable the codes again to gain keyless go ,passive entry etc .
I’ve been there a few times already .
Cheers

so without codes you use the remote to unlock/lock and the push to start button still works normally is that correct?

Questions for the masses. I have a 16 tradesman with the transponder key. I want to upgrade to the fobs. Is it as simple as buying the keys and programming them with Alfa? Do you need to update the sales code and can Alfa do it or does it have to go through the dealer?

Last question, if the above works, do
You lose the function of the transponder key?

I have literally watched videos and searched google and can’t find these answers. Everything I found is very vague.

Hey guys, I want to purchase Alpha OBD and the MX reader but the original link in this posting is no longer available on Amazon, can anyone recommend another one? I will be using it for a 2017 Ram 1500 Sport and a 2014 Ram 2500 Tradesman, I have a Windows 7 laptop and an LG G8 (Android phone)

Thank you,
Jesse

Just Google or search on Amazon. It wasn't a special link

$69 was the good old days, like when a UAx radio was $300-$400 used. Scantool doesn't list the MX anymore and the MX+ is $100 new right from them. This Forum and thread probably drove the cost of all this skyward, lol.

Sorry I didn't realize OBDlink MX was the brand, I just clicked on the link of page 1 of this thread and Amazon said it was unavailable. I was only concerned because when I bought the cable to use Forscan in my Crown Vic, the first one was not compatible and I wasted $20 and had to buy a second one. I just ordered the MX+ for $100 on Amazon, thanks guys

The MX could be found used and cheap but between Amazon and Ebay, $100 was the cheapest the MX+ could be had and I figured I'd rather buy the better one and have full access than want to do something in the future and not be able to As of right now I know I want to use it to add the sales code for a CD player in my truck, add the sales code for Fogs in my step dad's, lower the tpms threshold in his truck, adjust tire size in both our trucks, and maybe program some keys, I'll definitely put it to good use

The Mx+ has been great for me, endless changes I've made, still well worth the $!

Back in 2016, I paid the stealership to turn on the turn signals, and puddle lights on Mopar tow mirrors I installed, they charged me 109$, alpha wasn't around yet i dont think, and that was for 1 thing activated, since then i got alpha and the mx+ and changed and turned on many things, so i guess 100$ is still ok considering, you can change and turn on as much as you want, with no trips to the stealership!

I just picked up an OBDLink EX on Amazon for $49. Even though I have an MX I wanted a different option to use with the laptop. It apparently works with AlfaOBD according to a couple of reviews on the product page.

Curious too how it works with the Windows version.

Where you in drive with parking brake off? Only work in gear

Sent from my SM-T500 using Tapatalk
I was driving forward and look at a solid pane of glass as that’s the easiest way to do this alone had it set to optimal daytime running lights and set location to turn singles and it shows that in Alfa when I pull log so I don’t get it at all?

so if anyone had any idea why I can’t run turns as my drl feel free to give me ideas on what else to do I guess I could always do low beam.

Yes, I bought the switch and factory light harness through Benny at allmoparparts, and a harness to connect into the fuse box from M2Mods. Then AlphaOBD to allow the switch to turn fog lights in and off with switch. Hardest part was getting actual lights positioned with brackets, but not bad.

Is there a place in the fuse box for the fog lights? Like under the fuse box or just on top of it?
