Hello guys appreciate any help you can give.

I have a 2012 1500 with the alpine sound system.

I've currently replaced my stock head unit with pioneer dmh-wt8600nex. I used the maestro ads-mrr2 interface to retain stock amp and steering wheel controls and all that good stuff. But for some reason my subwoofer actually sounds way worse so I'm saying screw it and just going to replace the amp with a new one.

So my question is, I assume I just bridge all the speaker wires from the input harness to the output harness on the amp, is this correct? And if so, after doing this am I going to have any other issues or lose any of the truck's features? I would think the amp is only for the speakers/sub but with these new electronics you never know what is being controlled by what anymore and it's frustrating.

After bridging the connections (assuming that's correct) my speakers should all be getting signal/power from just my head unit at this point. And then I should be able to run an amp wiring kit just like normal and hook up a new amp and sub. Hopefully it goes this smooth and as planned but I'm seeking input from anyone with experience doing this specifically or things similar just in case I run into problems.

Thank you again!

remember.! Hit the brakes. The amp is in control of your volume. It has to feed through it or you lose all control of the volume level. To retain everything, the cheapest and easiest way I found was to not use a pac module, but just install and audiocontrol D series amp. My stereo is bat $#*! Crazy now at half volume lol. Having the full eq and digital processor is awesome. So cost wise, I got a brand new 6.1200 for $700 and powered the rear doors, front doors and outer dash, and put my tweets directional in the center dash.
I just tapped the outputs from the factory amp to the line level inputs then fresh 16 guage out to all my new speaks. It really is the most simple way I've found having owned and modified 3 separate alpine systems.
The amp also summed the signals to give me a good low level rca out to my rockford 1000.1bd to push 2 x P3 12"s. Good God, it has the power to really ruin your day lol

Does the factory amp give power to just the subwoofer and the door speakers get power from the head unit or does the factory amp give power to all 9 speakers and the sub?

@Apac The factory Alpine amp powers all of the speakers as well as functioning as a basic DSP. I‘m not familiar with the 2012 (mine is a 2015) but I’m guessing they act the same.

What have you done so far and what is your final plan for your system? It’s usually better to leave the factory amp in place and use something to pull a usable signal from that to feed any aftermarket amps, processors, etc.
