I have 25,800 km's on my truck, thought its about due for the diffs, t/c and a tranny oil change. I have not done them yet, still factory fluids. Wondering what the best fluid/weight for the diffs, transfer case, same for the transmission and filter. Not concerned about price, figure this change should last for my ownership as I don't put alot of miles on. Thanks !!

Differentials are going to be Red Line or Amsoil.
Transfer case and transmission depend on what case and transmission you have in the truck.

Do you have Auto 4x4 on your transfer case selector? And do you have the 8 speed or 6 speed transmission?

I have never seen a reg cab short bed with a ram box, I am jealous.

page 880-881 pdf owners manual.

Some people would probably accuse me of being a redline guy, but for one fluid for everything down low, amsoil sg for diffs, amsoil multi tranny fluid for transfer case and transmission. 75w140 rear diff, 75w85 or 90 for front.

With that low a mileage, i'd probably go a few more miles/km's. Especially the trans - i'd take it to 90km/60k miles before doing the trans.

Good point, have you seen the process to even check the fluid level on the 8 speed?

Yes the t/c has a auto selection, the transmission is the 8 speed

I kinda always thought the first oil change is the most important, get rid of the break in metal, lubes etc. I also am running 480 rwhp so I think it works a bit harder, that said I dont do any hard launches.

Good point, I think i would change the diffs and the transfer case, but I would still run the transmission a bit longer. I changed the trans fluid in my '16 at 60k miles and was surprised at how clean the fluid was. No metal on the magnets - maybe didn't need to change it. I'm not pushing your kind of HP but the 8sp is a pretty sturdy unit.

Cool truck for sure!

Kinda ridiculous process, lol. Took two video's just to show you how to check the level, wtfark. I will never buy a new vehicle unless I research everything about it, the ford 10 speed is even worse, you have to drop it to change filter, like huh. If people stop buying this stuff, they will stop building it this way.

Top 4 reasons why transmisions fail, two of the 4 related to servicing the trans. Number one reason why transmissions fail? Low transmission fluid, like wtfark?? Let's design a transmission where you cant check the fluid and make even more fail?

Whatever fluids you do end up putting in, leave a note of them on a sheet of paper in the owner's manual, so years down the road you can add more of the same brand, if you need to. So you're not mixing brands. Esp on gear lubes.

I should check to see what mileage i last changed the rear differential fluid : 3:55 LSD
It looks like it was only 1 month old, so i am guessing February 2016

The Ram just turned 62,000 miles

I went by the book and at 119800 I changed all my fluids with the fluids that were called for. The biggest thing was the transmission, I had the pan with the filter already in it changed a well used the trans fluid which was $36.10 a quart. I don't want any other fluid that the owners manual does not describe. I now have almost 124,000 miles and no engine, ar any other problems . I have over 700 hours idle. I am pleased with it so far. I expect to get 200,000 miles out ofmy RAM.

You can check the fluid there just isn't a dipstick. The entire fluid change process can be done in about an hour once you figure out what you are doing and have all the right tools. A fluid pump makes a world of difference. The sketchiest part is running through the gears while the truck is in the air. The 8 speeds also have to pull the pan to change the filter as well.

2016's and up have a specific fluid for the TC. I've done mine twice and I grab it from the dealer.

If the parts department runs the last 8 numbers of your VIN they'll let you know for sure.
