Does anyone have an information as to what FCA Emissions recall 67A is and what is involved? Even all my dealer can tell me is that its something with the PCM and would need at least a half day with it. Something doesn't seem right to me.
I just had mine done on the 6th when I took it in in for the Diesel Oil Change program. I was in and out in under two hours. Funny thing though, a week later I had it back to the selling dealer for another warranty issue and I'm five miles down the road and the DEF System service light comes on. Geeze, what next! Anywhoo, it's a reflash of the PCM. The update didn't seem to affect performance.

Anybody get this done yet? Mine is 2500 2015 67 but I want to get some input from others who got it done first because my truck runs just fine as it is.

^this video kind of explains a little more as to the suspected operation of the recall software. This guy explains it pretty well starting at the 5:30 mark. He bases those assumptions on history with cummins, and makes valid points. It is just speculation but it makes very good legitimate sense. In short, (and this follows my thoughts) I doubt there will be anything seriously noticeable out of the gate. But over time? Hmmm

You are correct. That is pure speculation on his part. No known actual data.
We'll have to wait and see how it goes.

Reading a lot of these, I'll add my bit. Had my 2016 2500 in for the emissions software update, now the truck does NOT pass smog and therefore the truck can't complete it's DMV reg. OBD is not reading the O2 sensor. Dealer says I need to drive it 1 - 2 K miles. So here we are 2500 miles later, OBD is STILL not reading the O2 sensor. I'd like to know where my share of the 1.6 BILLION settlement dollar is. My cost per mile, and now a trip to DMV to get an extension to my registration should warrant more than a 10% discount on my next oil change. Crap like this does not bode well for future sales of Ram or Cummins.

The problem is with all of this is at the feet of your CARB they are the ones who caused all of this BS not Ram or Cummins, if the update caused a problem the dealer needs to fix it, my guess is they may have messed up some where an now they don't want to take the blame for there mistake, that is if the truck was working properly before update, it may be up to you to prove it was working properly and it would have passed DMV without updated software.....

Depending on what zip code your truck is registered in California, have a referee facility help you figure out where California Air Resources Board C.A.R.B can help they are usually located in Community Colleges the Main headquarters is in Riverside California

it use to be only 7 years that the dealer was responsible for emissions it might be a couple years longer now , but if you are only going to smog or repair stations you might get raked over the coals financially.

Way too much emissions reduction $hit on diesels.

Good luck mining lithium and making battery cars all with solar electricity. There's just too damn many people on the planet for micromanaging products to perfection. I saw all this coming in early 2000 when CARB pushed EPA into SCR exhaust aftertreatment for on-highway diesel engines.

I thought then, and still think, it was an impossibly expensive, complex, and unreliable system to manage.

It is.

You might be making more out of it than there actually is..

the issue is going to be eventually the reputation of the vehicle will be flagged as a habitual polluter if this is what the DMV is conspiring to do you need an unbiased official to stop the political shenanigans and predatory profiteering it up to you as an owner to fellow owners in California

I just need to get the thing registered and I can't get it done in it's current condition thanks to Cummins, Ram, and the local dipsh*t dealer.

Like I said, It shouldn't be this hard.

Not sure what that means in the case of getting a truck to pass a smog check.

I appreciate your input.

I'll add this
For folks who are in areas that dont require this recall to renew registration, I was considering doing this recall for the warranty extension only. however After 2 trips to my Dealer, one with a printed copy of the Consent decree with Cummins and the extended warranty info and covered items, my dealership has no idea what is goin on and said they will not cover any warranty item beyond the factory Warranty. So if your thinking your gonna get it done for the sole purpose of that warranty, like many of us were then you need to be in contact with your dealer because it its gonna be really spotty.

Dealer is absolutely no help. I was told they can only do 1 download / calibration per recall. Called the Mopar customer service line, took down my info and transferred me to another local dealer who didn't answer the phone and has yet to answer my message. Ram, Cummins, Dipsh*t dealer circle jerk.
I think it's officially called a "Dutch rudder"

I got caught up in the VW 3.0 TDI defeat device/ scandal with a Touareg my wife had. We took the $11k and had is reprogrammed by the dealer. It began shifting much higher in the RPM range and lost a couple MPG. It also had increase DEF fluid usage. I think it lost 10hp and 15 ft/lbs of torque if I remember correctly. Behaved more like a gasser with less lugging around in low RPM. Hopefully the Cummins fix isn’t like that, wouldn’t be good for a heavy duty truck. Too bad they aren’t compensating the truck owners for diminished performance if there is any. I’m guessing there is some politics involved with stapling a German company’s ass to the wall vs an American company like Cummins.

Wow! It's amazing how you had the foresight to take the VW and have it dino tested before AND after so you would know exactly how much HP and torque was lost. :manos:
