When I was looking at Valvoline R&P, the 5W-30 was real stiff, at least the pour point (they didn't list a CCS VIS), making me wonder if there was too much ester or if it was just really high-sided viscosity in the 5W band @ 0 degrees F.

In essence, it's the same problem I have today with Red Line 5W-30 being too stiff for arctic weather up here in the uninhabitable zone.

And so, if this is real, this is friggin' awesome!

They did build that new 0w30 redline for di, and a pretty good job at that. Just doesn't look as good for hemi's compared to Corey's favorite old formula.

I have a non turbo DI and I am concerned about the carbon build up on this type of engine.

I was surprised with the additives in VALVOLINE Extended Protection 0W20 and 5w30.

Good to see the latest possibilities(VALVOLINE Restore and Protect/Euro 0w/30)of an oil that I can use to muchly benefit my rubber band DI gas powered engine ...maybe the Euro 0w/30 might be a little on the thin side for summertime? but the 5w/30 Restore and Protect might just be the one that I could use year 'round ...

An oilpan heater offsets that problem, lol. Even a little 75watt pan heater will keep the oil warm enough, and won't break the bank to leave plugged in overnight when the temps drop,i like the 125watt versions a bit more, but they do use a little more electricity if left plugged in overnight.

You in Cajun Country, you got no temp problems. 5W-30 for the win.

IDK what this ended up at. Was going to be SP, then they didn't cut the visc, then what?

The first thing they say is it is sp suitable, and a tweener viscosity not as stout as the euro's or thin as the American version of SP. It's really the additives that are di friendly, plus nice to have a little more visc. The main issue is as I see it so many great 0w30's out there I'm not sure if I want to pay 14 a quart for a short interval. Di engines that are driven like a grand pa just aren't going to have the issues would be my guess. low speed pre ignition, run a shelf 0w30 on a short interval and don't hammer the skinny pedal at slow speeds. I was asking for this formula for over a decade, so there it is, too bad it came at the cost of losing old formula more suited for hemi's, that I didn't ask for.

That's on paper, nothing saying that 0w30 wouldn't still be a tick killer, only lost 1/2 the moly still over 200, plus lost visc 1 point lower, and imo better zinc even for hemi, of course CA/mag I do like even for hemi, maybe not long interval. It still has poly/pao base, so there sure is a possibility 0w30 redline is still a tick killer. Certainly has to be a top choice for a di if money is no object, not sure I have seen anything better for a di.

high moly, high zinc, boron good, low CA and high Mag and a viscosity that tickles your fancy done? What else do you need a list?

0w30?
Not redline or SC

m1 0w30
valvoline extended protect 0w30
Amsoil SS 0w30 or look at their euro better visc.

A troubled di = valve r&p?
So the suggestion now is 0w30 over 5w30? or is that just for the Winter months.

Its like a modern additive package but built with stout C12 PAO and alot of POE! Its about perfect if willing to pay for botique
