While plowing today the CEL came on. P1524. 2021 5.7: classic. 63,000 miles. Royal purple oil filter with valvoline restore & protect 5w30. I am at about 5,800 miles and 7 month since last oil change. The oil change has been on the to do list. It'd due, but not really overdue. The oil level is fine.

I thought I already had a good filter with RP. I am also already using 5w30.

What am I looking at here? Change the oil and I should be good? Or am I looking at something more?

Thanks.

I had an oil pressure sensor fail in the first year of owning my then new 2014 5.7.

I changed the sensor , but also added a mechanical gauge in the dash.
With the mechanical oil pressure gauge , it takes the electronics off the table.
I can rely upon this for an accurate measurement.
This helped remove the uncertainty that the factory setup had created.

Could be oil filter, Oil Pressure switch , failing oil pump ect ...

What does your cluster say the oil pressure is at ?
just took a drive. At idle while warm it was around 30-33. When driving at 2k rpm it went o 38. It never went below 30.

Can ditto oil pressure on my 19 no e junkola. Just had oil and filter done less than 500 miles ago. RP WITH PUP 5 W20. After warmed up idle 30-35. Running 60 mph 49-50 psi. Kinda stays at 49. Come start pressure 54-58 till warms up but it normally not get stupid cold so warms up pretty quick.

Id change the oil and the filter, doesn't restore and protect clean things up internally and could clog a filter. I haven't used it but watched a couple of videos on how it works

Ever thought of running a 5W-30,as those pressures are on the lower end of the scale, especially your 60 mph pressures, they should be closer to 60 psi then 50 psi

Those numbers historical fer the truck. Neither garage I took to or dealer will put in 5 w30 they say cause CEL. I could not get in there to do recent medical procedure but it be ok truck driveway princess :D:Big Laugh:

Had to get changed not by mileage but time as been over a year tho only had less than 3 K but wanted done before wat they call winter here lol.

Yes it can if the engine is sludgy. I didn't expect that though with this truck. It only had around 58K on it when I first put in restore & protect. I thought that was pretty low mileage for it to be dirty already but maybe I was wrong. I'll change the oil and filter and see if that fixes it. But I am tempted to just buy a new oil pressure sensor and throw it in.

My pressures are higher just using Red Line 5W-30 vs SuperTech 5W-30. I do have a brand new Hellcat oil pump with my stock relief spring.

205,500 miles on my '15 SLT

Cold start ~ 60 psi
Cold acceleration ~ 70 psi
Hot cruising ~ 53+ psi
Hot idle ~ 45 - 48 psi

Before my cam/lifter job, running PP 5W-30 and Fram FE2 filter with my stock oil pump, my hot cruising psi would be ~ 51 psi, and hot idle would be 35 - 40 psi.
Sorry, I got no stinkin high falooting performance oil pump, just stock stuff, roflmao.

Planning on doing 5 and 2. More like 4 1/2 5W20, 1/2 Lubeguard, (2) 5 w30. But that will be next oil change. Right now trying to source
RP 10-48 filters, none except unknown quality like Amazon. None from RP. May have to do Fram FE or full synth. But that is for the future.

Why not just switch it to all 5W-30,especially if you're running PUP,it's one of the thinner 5W-30's floating around
