    Mine was a combination of worn valve tips and pushrods against the rocker arms. Which I believe caused the knock sensor to retard timing. Changing those solved the hesitation for me. There's also a video on YouTube where corrosion in the ecm plug causes false knock sensor readings.

    Everyone keeps saying "these engines are just noisy" and that's just garbage, something a dealership says to avoid doing work. Hesitation will come under load, towing a trailer or taking off from a stop or both ( sometimes not always) the noise mostly goes when hot.

    Well. Taking your knock sensors offloading them hooked up and tie them up to see if your knock retard goes away is a good way to rule out wiring.

    There's a YouTube video by Phillip Bradley showing corrosion in the c2 (orange) engine harness. Hard to see unless you de pin the plug. Someone even suggested putting a garden hose rubber oring behind the offending knock sensor

    Changed the left intake and exhaust rockers and seemed to sound a little better, definitely took the play out. I'll order another set for the right and be done with it..... hopefully Untill then it's a ticker

    Why are my rocker arms so loose?

    Sounds like your chasing the same thing I am. Rocker arms are the only things I haven't changed therefore I assume they are my problem.

    I also checked for shavings where I could, like the vvt solenoid and the oil filter when servicing but nothing, the injectors were pretty loud and I'd love to have them cleaned.

    Not really, the cam looked like it was starting to wear through the hardened surface. But the lifters looked pretty normal, the only real wear I saw was on the valve stem tips and the pushrod balls. But the rocker arms looked ok but are hard to really inspect
