i have a question about the 4.7 v8. i was hearing a air leak when the engine was idling, when i tracked it down it was coming from one of the ports behind the "hat?". both ports had a cap on it,but 1 of them was cracked. when i put my finger over the port, the engine would start to choke. it seems like at idle this is the only air the engine is getting.
when i take both caps off the idle speed goes up.:help:
at idle i noticed that there was no air being drawn in from the air filter. when the engine is revved it does draw air.

is this normal for magnum engines?

Sounds like you have a combination of a vacuum leak as well as an IAC valve failure on your throttle body.

I would be removing the air hat and throttle body to inspect closer for anything else that's broken.
