It’s really not a bad job to change it out removing the head. You are going to have to replace the spring and the push rod .

Why do I need to change the pushrod? I plan on changing out all the springs with new ones and the valve seals why I’m there

You don’t need to change pushrods. If you are on Facebook then look up the page “NADodge” or “Dodge Ram 3rd Gen Only” and look up a guy named Justin Long. He makes the tools for about $125. They are nice looking tools

This isn’t the one he makes but it should be a somewhat simple design if you are handy with metal fabrication

I had a very similiar tool laying around the garage. I used the bench grinder to trim it alittle to fit. It’s worked okish, but I definetly wouldn’t want to do all 16 with it. I just had to change one valve seal so I didn’t want to buy the big tool

Only one of my springs are broken but I’m going to go ahead and change them all since the truck has 200k on it and I drive it 500 miles wk. I’m going to pull the brake booster also so I have more room to work so maybe that tool will be easier to use that way

If you are still looking for one let me know. I think I may have one of those original ones made back in the day laying around.
