Hello,
Just joined the forum and I hope you all can help me. I bought my 03 Ram used about a month and a half ago. It has 114,000 miles on it and the first month it was good. Did have the manifold gasket replaced on the driver side right away because the manifold had a crack.
Lately I have been having all sorts of issues coming up. It got real cold up here in the north and the heat doesn't blow very hot once the temp gets below about 15 degrees. It's pretty good if it's not colder than that. I am guessing a partial plug in the heater core. Then the abs and brake light came on so I change the speed sensor on the rear diff but that didn't clear the problem so I am still working on that.
The reason I decided to write is tonight I was coming home from work and it is snowing here. It started getting pretty slippery so I put it in to 4 wheel drive doing between 38-40 mph and it kind of sounded like it wasn't engaging all the way or it was howling. I tried it twice and the same thing so I just went slow and drove to town in 2wd. Once I got to town and I was going slower I put it back into 4x4 and put the window down. I could hear a slight chirping from the front and the howling noise would only start when it was under power. If I let off the gas the noise would stop. It didn't sound like a grind at that speed but more of a slight howl. This was all going in a straight line. This isn't the first time I have used the 4x4 this year. I have used it several times during snow but this was the first time it made this noise. Was always real quiet before tonight.
Any help you can all give me would be greatly appreciated. This is my 3rd Dodge, my last 2 were 97's and I barely had to put any money into either one of them. So far with all the little problems that keep coming up on this 03, I wish I would have kept my 97! Well it's still in the family as I gave it to my parents.
