2004 1500 Hemi base model; no power locks, windows, or anything. Is it possible to install a remote start system in this thing?

You mean a factory Mopar remote start? I doubt it will have the wiring harness that supports it. Plus I think it might be a liability issue if unit didn't know if the doors were locked or not. That just a wild guess. All of the aftermarket ones I see are also tied into the locks.

I didn't think about the doors needing to be locked to start it. Makes sense. Thanks

A buddy and myself installed a Viper 791xv over 10 years ago on my '05. It's pretty simple for the most part, easier without the electric door locks. They're negative triggered, so we had to use relays to send a ground signal to them to lock/unlock. It doesn't care if the doors are locked or unlocked to start it. I can get close to 100 yard range with the remote.

On my wife's Jeep we installed one that used the factory key fob to start it, I forget the brand. Just had to push lock 2 times and it'd start. That's another option if you don't want an alarm/remote start.
