So I have a brand new alternator on my 07 Dodge ram 1500 4.7 L and it's not charging I tried and aftermarket voltage regulator online that was supposed to bypass the computer to no avail. I am reading 12.1 volts on one field wire in 10 volts on the other can anybody tell me why

Have you tried to do a test on just the alternator to see if it is putting out? Depending upon how the alternator is designed, you would either ground of feed one of the wires to the brushes. If one brush was internally grounded, you would feed battery voltage to the other brush, the alternator would go into maximum output. If the ground is controlled to control output, you would need to ground that circuit to get it to go full output. This test is normally something that should be done by an experienced Tech.
