12” screen question. Can’t dim the screen when headlights are on?

i find the screen is to bright and in the settings it does not let me change the screen display brightness it’s stuck on 5

Thought the screen was too bright - then found that dimmer lol

The dimmer dial is on the right in the attached photo. Ram 1500, 2021 model year.

Except some of us have a dial that has a dead spot in it. Starts off dim and when you try to brighten it, nothing happens from about 1/2 up to just past 3/4. Then all of a sudden nothing but full on bright.
