Think I'm going to open mine up and paint mine tonight. Or attempt to.

Might as well forget that. The black bezel surrounding the gauges is built into the front half. You'd have to cut it out then glue it back in. I've already contemplated that one.

So where the green dots/glue are on the backside, if I undid those, the silver rings would still be blocked by the black bezel? I took off one dot and the silver ring seemed to move a little more.

I've also contemplated taking a rotary saw close to the plexi glass, and gluing all back together after

I've gotten that far... but if you take a look at the back there are green dots that seem to hold the silver rings in place. If you pick those off, which is what I had to do for my emblem, I think the rings will come off. At that point I might be able to squeeze them through the inner square, and paint those. I won't be able to paint the whole black bezel, but at least can get the rings ( I hope).

I'll mess with it tonight and let you know if I'm right or wrong. Since the whole top piece if only $40 I might still end up taking a rotary saw to it for ***** and giggles.... But who knows. I've got to reassemble my girlfriends acura tonight so will see what I can accomplish on this.

I'm hoping the dots on the back have the same function as these- Which is holding it together

I swapped out the longhorn front half in favor of the black sport one. Still got gold gauges though.

First off - Props to Outlaw Trucker for starting this thread/trend! Awesome!

I think I got bit by the "direct bolt-in" bug though.

I found a KPH speedo cluster that is currently set up in MPH for Odometer. My initial thought was no problem, just access the Personal Settings in the EVIC and change it. Except there are no Personal Settings in this cluster? It came out of a truck with the 8.4 Uconnect - which controls the personal settings in the Radio?

I'm hoping that the guy who I have lined up to reset the mileage to match my truck can re-set it.

But I would beware of any cluster that came out of the truck with the 8.4 Uconnect at this point, alot of cool stuff in the personal settings will disappear...

You lose the vehicle settings in the evic with the premium clister.

And thanks for the credit. It looks like I started a huge trend here among exoress owners.

Oh - so all the personal settings are lost forever, no big loss once I've set my preferences I generally never adjust them again. Hopefully my guy can switch it to KM to Miles for the odometer - otherwise I'll have a cluster for sale!

I need a canadian cluster ( in km ) if someone see one , pm please ! :D:favorites13:

check out car-part.com great source for Salvage yards, when I got mine they had a dozen listed from $195-$400 CDN

When you look up the Speedometer they even break down the 3.5" or 7" display in MPH or KPH.

When I picked it up at the salvage yard the salesperson had a contact to reprogram it, so I'm hoping getting the mileage reset will be no problem

I have found that the prices are negotiable at wrecking yards....

That one is SGI which is government insurance **** here in SK so I doubt they'll move. Unfortunately it's only got 3,000kms on it and I'm at 32,***.

Two in Alberta $245 shipped to Regina closest is 23,xxxkms my main issue is I purchased extended warranty for 7yrs 140k and this could most definitely effect my warranty down the road. It's probably best to hold out for one with close mileage, even then how can I document it to cover my ass?

As long as the pcm and odometer readings match you should be golden

I've read this thread a few times, if I'm understanding this correctly they will read different. PCM @ 32,000 new cluster @ 3,000.

There are all kinds of "Shady" places that can roll back mileage both in the PCM and cluster and charge a pretty penny to do it. The same technology 'should' allow them to change just the cluster to match and not have to charge nearly as much (less work and its also not illegal)

I got a contact from the wrecking yard for a guy who can reset the cluster (and I got a wink from him like I wanted it rolled back.... which I don't, have less than 4K km) I also 'know a guy' who 'knows a guy'...

Mines going out tomorrow (with the guy who knows a guy) and we'll see what it looks like when it gets back (and a final price) I'll let y'all know
