So I'm new and I have a Ram 1500. The thing is I want it to be perfect. I keep hearing and seeing problems with it so I want to Restore it to its natural beauty. I don't know where to start though. theres rust all over this thing, the interior is ripped a bit, dash is cracked in the front, paint job on it is terrible, everytime i drive the truck for long distances I get out and smell burning. I was looking at getting a new truck but i ruled that out because I want to stick with this one.

Cliffs:
Love my Truck
Feel likes its falling apart
Want to Restore
Don't know where to start
Not buying a new truck

(EDIT)

I also am new to the whole truck thing so beginner talk would be appreciated :p
also just wondering about an estimated cost

I would get the truck fully tuned up and everything in good working order before ya do anything else. Once its mechanically good, then worry about bodywork. Be sure to read the plenum sticky at the top of this section!

Agreed, make a list of the work you want to do and prioritize the repairs. I use a old fashion paper tablet to keep notes/ repairs. The burning smell is probably a oil leak. Sometimes a pinion seal throwing grease on a hot muffler will give you the smell after a long trip. Good luck..
