I know it's most likely pointless and too soon to do an oil analysis on a less than 7k mile engine, but I was curious to see these results on my second annual oil change which I can one day compare future analysis to.

Seems like based off my driving I could go OVER a year on the oil which I would love to try out, but want to stick to the owners manual maintenance recommendation of at the longest one year change interval in case anything were to happen.

Holy Moly! I hope you drained that $100 lube in a clean container and put back in the oil pan.

I was on a two year interval and my numbers were almost identical to those. I could still go 2 years if I so chose too, I still had over 3 tbn even after two years, but I just chose to do a 1.5 year interval going forward. I don't put a lot of miles on my machine, but tbn determines oci, otherwize just go to feelings. It's a new thing, people like to reject science so long as their feelings tell them too. The only thing is some people subscribe to the high wear metals being some kind of sandpaper effect. it is something to consider, but after considering it I still do what I do. Especially if you changed your own oil and were able to see if any actual metal shavings were rolling around and not just ppm metal, which is a very different thing.

You already know the oci, the oil simply will be in pristine condition on your year interval. You also know there is little value in wear metal report, it will be high for the foreseeable future, at least til the engine is at 35k miles. And as long as you are using a spun microglass filter, no need for uoa's at this point unless you are making a change. When you hit 35k, I bet your uoa blows you away with how low it will be. Anyhow, there is a thread for these, blackstone thread. peace

I performed oil analysis on jet engine oil when I was in the Air Force. Unless you have data from the manufacturer for the amount of acceptable wear-metals, it has very little useful value.
