I have a 2003 3500 Ram Dually with a 5.9 ho and NV4600 six speed manual transmission. My GVWR is 12,000 lb. Information I find online says my GCWR is 23,000 lb. Is this gospel. I want to be able to tow my RV comfortably anywhere I want to go. I'm hoping I can find between 30 and 35 ft fifth wheel toy hauler to carry my Harley and stay within the weight ratings.

I have the same setup in an '05 with an automatic and Cummins that I purchased for the sole purpose of towing my 36' 5th wheel, which it does with ease. The trailer is rated at 16K and actually weighs just over 14K on the CAT scale. The truck weighs just over 8K empty. I have a gooseneck hitch in the bed with a 5th whl hitch that mounts on the gooseneck ball, (rated 20K) no mods on the trailer. The 5th whl hitch comes out of the bed when I'm not towing and a mat goes over the gooseneck hole in the floor to keep dirt out so the bed is fully useable. Your '03 will have a slightly higher rating because of the std trans. I'm assuming it's the quad cab with 4wd. HTH
