Doing clock spring and noticed this connector hanging out cant find what it's for.
Is there suppose to be a key ignition module around the ignition key?

So I took out a poorly wired remote start and some cheap amazon lighting strips. Curious why it's not there anymore?

Yes, simple black key means no security/immobilizer. If you did there'd be a module there and you'd have a gray (chipped) key.

Not so much a "not there anymore" as more likely a "never there to begin with" lol.

I'd almost guarantee yours wasn't built with one because someone would not only have to pull the module, they'd have to replace your PCM too (once initialized to SKIM, it's pretty much a SKIM PCM for life). By 2005 it was pretty much standard. It's just the way they ordered or built at the factory. My 2003 doesn't have it but I've seen others with it. By 2006 (in Rams) they all had it because the SKIM & wireless module were combined into one module (SKREEM) for the CAN bus change. You can add it if you want to. You'd have to buy the module, get it initialized to the PCM, buy a chipped key or two and get them programmed to your new SKIM.
