So i have a 2006 1500 4.7L. Lots of miles, but it runs sweet, and i love it. Some months ago, it would hunt for the right gear at high speed, downshifting unnecessarily. It wouldn't do it all the time. On some trips it worked fine, then a day or two later, start acting up again. Took it to my trusted mechanic, and he said it was just fine. This went on for a while, until I finally remembered to call my old friend in No. Carolina. He has an eight bay auto service joint in Charlotte, and has been elbow deep in various engines since high school. He said to replace the throttle position sensor. Said it's so easy, even I couldn't screw it up. Well I did it 2 weeks ago, and it took care of the entire issue. Not even a hiccup. Just thought i'd post it here in case anyone else is dealing with this.
