Hi guys, new on this forum, lots of great info. Ive got a 06 Ram 1500 4.7L with about 80,000 miles on it. A while back, My truck had an episode where it kind of stalled right after I started it up. Go to start it again and it starts right up. Engine light comes on, and stays on for about a day (or until I start the truck 3 or 4 times throughout a day) and then shuts off on its own. It has stalled twice, Both times starting right back up again. Ran to Oreileys, and they said it was a Camshaft position sensor. Bought a new sensor, got it replaced and everything seemed to be working fine. I replaced it about 2 weeks ago. All of a sudden today the light comes back on, get the diagnosis from oreileys, and its the Camshaft position sensor again. I checked the wires as best as I could to make sure there are no breaks or cracks. They seem to be fine. Sometimes when the engine light comes on, the truck will kind of go into limp mode, and wont let the RPM's go over 2500. Other times when the light is on, everything works and runs fine. I have noticed it tends to kick on the check engine light in the mornings, after a really cold night. The light has never come on when above 32 degrees outside.

Has anybody else had any problems like this or know of any solutions? Do I replace the sensor again and hope thats the problem, or is there something more serious happening? Ive read online that most people with Camshaft position sensor issues have problems even starting their truck. Mine has always started and ran, but maybe 1 out of every 10 times the motor will be in limp mode. I can just turn off the key and start it back up and it is no longer in limp mode, but the light is still on.
