2008 2500 6.7 A good buy?

Looking at a 08 6.7 with 280,000 miles. non deleted, no engine upgrades or modifications, Should i be concerned, what should i look for? previous ecperiences/comments are welcome

Does it have bed damage?
I mean beat up...
Does it have a gooseneck setup?
How much does it smoke?
Any maintenance records?
Highway or city miles?

I deleted mine early in its life, but I love mine!

I’d just check for service history, if it was just older gent towing things and being a daily driver it’s entire life I wouldn’t worry about that much.

May have front end problems and a soot filled turbo. I would only buy it with the intention of getting it deleted. Otherwise go 2014+

08 6.7 Cummins with 68rfe all deleted early, 296k miles, 24 mpg.
Trans was issue, fine with truck alone, add a work trailer and hot trans temp, 255f and later 277f
time for a Jasper 3 year warranty, dyno'd and tuned before delivery.
Billet torque converter and input shaft.
New controller with trans controller, 3 settings and up to 200 hp increase with 5 settings. same programmable display.
$7800 installed .
A hole new animal
2008 single cab ranch truck, flatbed, 2500 4x4. With 2 steel coils on the bed, 1600 lbs daily.
Paid $ 13.5k plus trans 2 months later. $22k

DEF didn't come until '13(?) for pickups, the C&C trucks had it, though. The early 6.7s were the heavy EGR system without DEF. It was not Cummins' brightest idea, to say the least. I don't know if I'd buy one unless you intend to delete it.
