checking a friends truck that stopped working last week, just driving off the driveway it turned off, he had a mobile mechanic check it fast. the mechanic determined that there was no fuel and no power was getting to the fuel pump.

so when i checked it the same day i was looking for the fuel pump relay and thats when i learned about the TIPM. from what i have seen online there are 2 different TIPM's
one with a bunch of fuses/relays and other has fewer fuses and relays.

this truck has the fewer fuses. so i could not do the fuel pump relay bypass.

today we received the new TIPM installed it and same issue, no start no fuel.

went under the tank and checked myself for power to the pump when turning key on, the fuel pump connector gets 9v

any ideas what else to look for?
any diagram?

Well, if there is power to the actual connector that attached to the fuel pump, I would strongly suspect the Fuel Pump has gone south. May want to check if 9 volts is the right level for that vehicle. If you use a rubber mallet and tap fairly briskly on the gas tank, can you hear it kick on?

The missing items of info that will help everyone assist you in your adventure, the truck year and model. This might allow us to locate a service manual with schematic drawings.

Schematic drawings will provide a valuable road map for troubleshooting.

I did intall a brand new fuel pump.
But when the connector is connected to the fuel pump then voltage is 0.

Its a 2009 dodge ram 2500 5.7 4x4, super duty

Well, if you have power at the connector, goes away when you plug in the pump and comes back when you unplug the new pump you either aren't grounding the pump or there is something wrong with the connector. If power doesn't come back when you unplug again you must be tripping a relay or fuse, so you have a short somewhere.

If the power comes back every time, make sure the pump is grounded and if that isn't it, replace the connector itself. Also, make sure the key is off when you plug in the pump and then cycle the key on, off and on to check for power.

Update:, problem was fixed by swapping back to my original TIPM and bypassing the fuel pump relay.

My conclusion was that somehow the new TIPM was shorted somehow.

Because even bypassing the fuel pump relay, it woulnt start with the new TIPM
