Good afternoon,
The key fob in my 2009 Ram is no longer working and all the research I’ve done isn’t matching up to what is happening.
Essentially what happens is the key fob will still start the truck, but will not do any functions (lock, unlock, panic, remote start). I replaced the batteries in both of the keys and still not working. Any advice?

Had the same issue with my 2012 Ram 1500 Laramie at ~80K miles. I used one key continually and kept the other in the safe. The Ram dealership in GA told me that the internal mechanisms were worn out and I had to replace the key.

You can open up the FOB or RKE, ( Remote Keyless Entry )
There is a printed circuit board in there, on the board there are contacts points that can become dislodged, it can be repaired in minutes.

If you end up having to replace your FOB or RKE, look at this site, they sell brand new units for half what a dealership charges. I just bought a brand new OEM FOB for my Ram for $49.95, Then i found a locksmith that would program the FOB & cut a new Valet key for $45.

Yea these **** fobik keys never last long you can try to clean but once nothing works its most likely shot. It was a terrible design I stopped buying oem keys I just get the $20 for 2 ebay keys now and reprogram it myself with my scanner when one goes bad. I miss my 2008 that actually used a real key.

First thing I did when I got my 2010 used was take apart both original fobs. Loose discs and gunked up circuit boards on both.
Crazy glued the discs in place, new rubber button inserts from Amazon, used Q tips & rubbing alcohol to clean the boards. Got two functional original fobs now.

I see that. Neither key FOB is working (The one thats been used and the spare one). Would that be an issue with the trucks hardware itself?

My 2010 did the same thing recently so when I replaced the battery I checked these pads and it fixed it. Good as new!

I wonder if getting the Frequency Hub Module (RFHM) (also known as the RF Hub/RFH) flashed would fix the FOB issues, if changing batteries & cleaning the FOB printed circuit board does not do it

The RF Hub is behind the rear seat on the drivers side, near the cab vent

Also this video shows what happens with a bad Ignition Module

The guy must have had a sore wrist after all the FOB turning
