I'm getting ready to full flush 17 qts of Amsoil in my tranny for some towing. The tranny filters show Wix 58843 for deep pan or Wix 58846 for shallow pan. I can't figure out which pan is on my stock truck?

Deep.

I recommend buying oe filters for the RFE trans. I've had drainback issues with aftermarket filters, as have many others. They aren't much more expensive.

My 2009 Dodge Ram 1500w/ 545RFE , 2 wheel drive took the shallow transmission sump filter

I think
If it was a 4 wheel drive, it would have taken the deeper filter

rfe synthetic filter options

must have a metal thread upgrade regardless, we found these are the best as in tightest fit.

rfe oem filters are paper and are worthless after a year, but synthetic filters outlast any oils, plenty of testing on ram forum spanning a decade. Plus, we have lost rfe transmissions because of those plastic threads, when they break for a myriad of reasons, you loose the transmission, there are a couple documented cases on ram forum.
