took my truck in yesterday for an oil change.
service manager told me i should do the 30k service maintenance on my truck.

spark plugs
differential
(and something else)

$535 for everything.

should i just let them do the spark plugs, and not worry about the differential at this time... the truck is 4yrs old in january, and only has 31k miles on it.. never towing anything. just daily driver.

hate to ask silly questions about maintenance, but ive never kept a car over 3yrs, so never did "big" maintenance items besides oil changes and brakes.

thanks

Spark plugs should be changed ever 30k. I'm not sure about the diff fluid. If ur handy you can do the spark plugs yourself for around $80 and would need a couple of hours to do it.

he is recommending it as per the manual so no issue there.

if you plan to keep the truck, i'd get all that done but at another shop.

my dealer charges $130 per differential while most shops will do it for $80.

going in today and just getting the spark plugs changed out.
$259+tax

beats $560+ for the full service. which included servicing the differential. and a fuel system service and the spark plugs.
im at 33k. not seeing a huge drop in my mpg anyways, but just getting it done finally.

I wouldn't do diff fluid until 45-50k personally unless you really beat on the truck.

I'd do trans fluid at the same time if it's a 6spd. I'd also be looking at power steering and brake fluid around that same time to check if they need doing.

Yes brake fluid is always over looked! Once moisture gets in there problems.
