Backstory: I recently bought a nice little 2011 Ram ST crew cab. The previous owner had fairly recently installed a cheap aftermarket back-up camera with the new touchscreen/radio unit. Personally, I don't like back-up cams - especially cheap aftermarket ones. Also, even though the unit has a Bluetooth option, it either tells me "no service" or when I try to pair my phone, "memory full." Can't access Bluetooth settings either. I can't figure out what that means or how to fix it. So even if I wanted to keep it, I can't figure out why it doesn't work - no instructions, no menu, just the Bluetooth option and a mic run down to the base of the steering wheel.

Issue: So, I'm going to yank out the back-up cam/radio unit anyway because I just don't want it, and I don't care at all for putting in a fancy stereo system ... but I do like Bluetooth ... a lot. I have the original factory head unit, but it doesn't have a Bluetooth button at all. So, I got my hands on an inexpensive refurbished factory radio from the upgraded SLT model with built-in Bluetooth, buttons and all. My question is: will installing this upgraded SLT factory unit with Bluetooth, instead of the base factory unit, into my ST (the connections look the same), give me functioning Bluetooth?

Or ... am I going to have to buy and install a Bluetooth module somewhere on the truck? I thought the head unit made with the Bluetooth controls contained the built-in BT module in itself, but I'm not sure.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks.
J~

P.S. - As a side note--not that this would be worth doing--but, I wonder what the cost and feasibility would be for also upgrading the steering wheel to one with the steering wheel controls? Any thoughts?
