So dumb question what is the different between the 2012 motor and the 2014... Asking because I purchased a 2014 complete engine for the block to rebuild my 2012 that broke a lifter. i know the block and heads are the same just wondering if it is worth swapping for the newer year. Going to rebuild and add a stage 1 cam with ported and polished heads and intake.

Thanks

dig into the change of the crankshaft/camshaft tone rings, the engine management changed with the '13 model year before commiting to the newer motor
Depending on how far you tear it down, it may just be a difference of which has less miles.

I have noticed when looking up parts, the rebuild kits are different, the intake manifold is different.. Is it just the matter of matter of swapping the pcm and harness?

Thanks

I guess my real question is if i rebuild the shortblock of the 2014 and use the top end like the intake ect from the 2012... should be ok?

I cant say what, but there was a change from 2012-2014 that increased the torque numbers on 2013 and up. Of course that is when we got the 8 speed, but I "think" it something to do with upper engine.

The heads are the same, when you buy them it says 2009-2015, Block is the Same. The tone rings are different.
Im guessing i should be ok to build the 2014 short block and put the 2012 intake and other accessories back on with no issues?

They lost the hyd steering pump in 13 Mike, that's the only change, other then throttle bodies and a few sensors
