Hey guys, just picked up a 2012 bighorn with the 5.7 and 6spd.
When I'm going about 35-45 and hit an incline when I give it throttle it feels like it don't want to move. Aventually I give enough throttle and I get thrown in the seat. Does this happen to others as well, and is it something that can be adjusted at the dealership? I do notice when I hit about 35mph I can see see the truck shifts and then seems to shift again and I'm at about 1000 rpm. When I get to about 3/4 throttle it takes off. I normally notice this getting off an off ramp and going over hills. Any info would be great!

Thanks fellas,
GaryB

Go to the dealer and tell them what its doing, then request the trans software update. I had it done and it helps out, it doesn't make it perfect but defiantly better...

Thanks a lot! Will do.. Also don't know if anyone has had the "Eco" light stay on while in 2nd and trying to gain speed and the truck just doesn't move? What I have read is that the MDS is flat out horrible. This has only happened a few times in the last month I have owned the truck.

Thanks

Gary

maybe check to see if you have "hill assist" turned off in your EVIC...

Haven't had that happen, but if you want to turn off the MDS without getting a tuner, use the manual shift buttons on the shifter and put it in 6 and just leave it like that, it turns it off, drive it like that for awhile a see if you notice a difference

My '13 2500 does this same tom-foolery. I f'n hate it.
It's on my list of things to get looked at by the dealer.

I have hill assist turned on. I made an appt with the dealer to try to get these problems solved. Thanks guys. I guess I will be looking into getting a tuner. For now around town I will keep it in 6th.

Thanks again!

Are you familiar with the Multi-Displacement System or the evil MDS as I refer to it?

Cuts out cylinders under low load and then resists like hell when you need them restarted for a load increase like a hill.

Dealer may tell you its normal and if your issue is MDS, it would be annoying but normal.

You can leave the shifter at manual 6 and it will not deactivate cylinders. That tends to let the skinny pedal demand the downshift you want.

Weird, I wonder if they tweaked MDS some on the 2013 A8 trucks because I don't have an issue with it coming out of MDS, if anything, I have an issue keeping it IN MDS. lol
