I seem to have shoved my 4wd selector into my dash and is pretty much flush now. So I need to tear the dash apart and inspect the damage. Has anyone done this? Where do I start?

Yup. 2 T20 screws under the rubber piece, pop it out with all the clips around the outside, and disconnect all of the AC controls. Careful not to scratch the bezel on the column shifter if you have that. You might want to set the E brake and put it into N to give yourself room. The 4x4 selector is probably held in the same was as the storage cups, 8 phillip's head screws around the outside.

If you have the AC outlet in your dash there is a screw right there also.
