2013 Rack and Pinion Bushings

If the rack and pinion bushings are shot on a 2013 Quad cab Longhorn 4x4 is the only option to have to replace the whole unit?
There is some weird L shaped spacer that is broken and loose between the frame and the R&P unit in the right side.
Of course the steering is clunking when the wheel is just barely turned.
So far seems to be a bit of a mystery on the www.

Been doing a lot of searching with no results. I have no doubt I can make these by starting with a rubber sleeve and then machine and harden a custom sized bushing.

How did you make out with this? I have the clunk as well and don't really want to replace the entire steering rack.
