2013 Ram 1500 5.7 Coolant

Good afternoon. I just got back from the local small napa after ordering Zerex ZXG0-51 online. The guy at the counter gave me NARB53 Asain Antifreeze and Coolant. I called the guy up and he said it will work but I'm very hesitant. If I run this, will it hurt the 5.7 Hemi?

Read the back of the container see if its compatible I dont think it is tho? I personally flushed the whole system with water then installed the usuall green antifreeze because its cheaper and has never caused a issue on any ram lol.

Take it back, and you mean go-5 coolant? which is also wrong. Below it says dex is comparable, but trust me it is the least compatible. run Mopar ten year coolant, peak global life, or zerex g30. zerex g30 is a clone of Mopar 10 year but usually cheaper.

I'm a little confused by this, I see the chart and believe it, but every auto store site I go to (napa, advance, carid, rockauto) recommend g05 or can replace g05 specifically

Edit: Actually read your comment and comprehended it this time, my bad.

Will try to find zerex g30 locally

Edit2: I should add, the engine has less than 40k on it, 4 years old. Not sure if that affects the g30/Mopar 10yr recommendation

The ten year coolants are oat, meaning basically 100% ethylene glycol. Now dex adds some stupid stuff to this and comes in an orange container, just avoid that. The Asians also add things specific to their coolants phosphates and silicates or whatever. FCA uses pure oat the same thing as g30 or peak global life. So in theory they can last a lifetime as peak global says. I would change by color of coolant, or more to the point clarify of coolant. I find the oat's lose a little clarify at some point past 5 years. Kind of why I like working on ,my Toyota, they have a nice clear reservoir to look at. Easy to judge coolant and see when it is leaking, and yes it saved my bacon on a leak once. Look up and verify info, It's been a while since I looked, SDS should be easily available for any coolant.

NEVER mix these types of antifreeze--

From google---There are three fundamental types of coolants IAT, HOAT and OAT. IAT is the classic green, it was eventually replaced by HOAT (2000-2012). HOAT can be any color but in Dodge it is the red/orange labeled "5-year". HOAT was then replaced by OAT starting in 2013, OAT is red/purple.

Technically, any coolant WILL work in any vehicle if the only thing to consider is protection from freezing. But one of the reasons different manufacturers use different types is to be compatible with various internal materials that the coolant comes in contact with.

And, as someone has already stated, never mix types.
