2013 RAM 1500 remote battery dies within a week

Hello,

I have a 2013 RAM 1500 Laramie Longhorn which has the new style remote and every-time I change the battery it dies like within a week.

I have used the same batteries on my 2015 Dodge Challenger remote and it's going on for months there.

Any suggestions what might be killing the battery so fast?

How far is your daily drive? Where in the country do you live?

Ensure the battery you have is correctly rated for your truck. Size, 'cold cranking amps', etc.

It takes around 10 miles to recharge the batt, from what was used to start it. Really, driving longer is better too.

Swing by most parts stores, check your alternator, making sure it's putting out the right volts. They'll check your starter, seeing if it's taking too much juice to start the truck.

Or if you have a multimeter... Check volts when with the truck running. There is a rating on your alt, but anything above 12volts is good. There's more to that...

Climate - Cold temps will drain a weak batt. Really hot temps will drain and trash a weak batt. This is added esp if you're not driving long enough to keep a charge.

Parasitic drain, something is still on when the truck is sitting. Disconnect all accessories, cell phone charger, radar detector, etc. Check dome lights, under hood light, all ext lights... making sure they are off when the truck is off. There is more to check for a parasite, but this is a start.

Reread the OP's original post..... he's talking about the battery in his key fob not the battery in his truck.

I meant my remote battery. After I change it it works all fine, but after a week I have to press it like four-five times in order to unlock it.
