FYI - My truck has 110k miles on it and is running great. Changing plugs in line with the 100k mile maintenance. Not noticing and issues with idle or anything.

I am gathering up materials to change my plugs. I have a few lingering questions that I haven't been able to find by browsing the forums.

1. I am finding 2 plugs that are recommended for my truck

NKG 4469 or NKG 92145 - I have read both recommended here on the forums. They both seem very similar and both appear to fit the vehicle. Anyone know which are preferred?

2. Im looking at the 6inch gearwrench swivel, but noticed they offer a 3 pack swivel set that includes the 4", 6" and 11" swivel. Ive read both the 4 inch and 6 inch have been used on this forum. The 6" seems to be used more. My question is does the 6 inch swivel do the job or would I be better off with the set of 3 different sizes?

3. My last question is regarding the coils, does it make since to replace the coils along with the plugs?

Thanks for all the help this forum has been to me. I just changed my manifold bolts, and without all the valuable info I found here and the excellent responses I received I wouldn't have been able to do it! No more ticking!!

I just wanted to add the NKG 4469 is the Iridium IX and the NKG 92145 is the Iridium laser.

Here is more to consider
I use Rockauto whenever i can

I entered you Ram year & engine type

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ram,2014,1500,5.7l+v8,3305957,ignition,spark+plug,7212

NGK 5018 {#LFR5AGP} G-Power ( Platnium ) $3.58 each

NGK 4469 {#BY481LFR5A, LFR5AIX11, MZ602090} Iridium IX
Dual Plug; Gap 0.044"
$5.44 each

NGK 92145 {#LZFR5CI11} Laser Iridium
Dual Plug; Gap 0.044"; Actual OE Manufacturer
$6.14 each

NGK 96355 {#LFR5AHX} Ruthenium HX
Dual Plug; Gap 0.044"
$7.95 each

Then they give you a comparison chart

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=916818&cc=3305957&jsn=775

Keep using your current coils

Thanks for the reply. Those plugs are what I found as well. Is there a preference between them. Any idea what the trucks come with OE? Laser or IX?

Thanks for the feedback on the coils. I noticed it also has a boot on each one. Should those be replaced with the plugs?

Thanks much!

if you went to the Dodge dealerships Parts Dept.

they would sell you these

NGK 92145 {#LZFR5CI11} Laser Iridium
Dual Plug; Gap 0.044"; Actual OE Manufacturer parts
$6.14 each, Rockauto price

At the dealership they add SP before the LZFR #SPLZFR5CI11
SP = spark plug

I'm sure that someone will suggest that you use some kind of product to keep the boot from sticking to the plug

On my 1950s Chevy, i believe that i used vasoline
I don't know for sure what they recommend now

Gotcha, I was leaning towards the laser vs the IX.

Another question, I've read that this is a good time to clean/replace the pcv valve. Any thoughts on that?

Yes, 92145. Also, the dealer will charge you north of $20 each for those 92145's, too. I was quoted $26 each by one of my local dealerships about 6 months ago.

I would replace the pcv valve, too.

That GearWrench tool 80546 is a blessing to have. As far as getting the set of 3 goes, totally up to you.

Dielectric grease for the plug boots: I used it, just put a small dab on my finger and applied it around the base of the ceramic insulator before installing the plug, and anothe small dab on the end of the boot before reinstalling the coil pack.

Note: a little goes a long way. A little 3 gram tube will do a couple of hemi plug changes IMO.

Would you recommend replacing the boots also?

Any idea what the torque is for the plugs. I've read 13, 18 and 22 ??

I didn't replace mine. Sorry, can't remember the torque at the moment.
