Hi, I am brand new to the diesel truck thing and new to the forum. So Hi:). I have some questions about my emission system? First off I will start by saying I am confused. Does my truck have a dpf? And, if it does how do I monitor it? And, where is it? Salesman said DEF replaced the DPF, but I think he is wrong. When I scroll through my Electronic Vehicle Info Screen I cant see the status of the filter. So, How do I know when it is full, pluged or empty. This is a bad truck I am so happy with it. I think once I figure out how to operate it and maintain it I will be thrilled. I bought this thing to drive to work which is 25 mile round trip mostly highway and to pull my 7500 pound travel trailer. I really hope this routine will not ruin a truck made to work. Thanks so much to all for a very great forum.

Your salesman was indeed wrong.
Your truck uses DEF and has a DPF.

I unfortunately have no experience with late generation Cummins'.
I know other members will chime in about how to monitor it etc.

he is correct, you should have a "Def" gauge in the middle of/below your rpm gauge to tell you the tank lvl, if not then it is in your display screen some where. don't worry about the dpf filter, the truck will automatically clean it, quick trick, get ur self a 2.5 gallon def jug, and a good funnel, keep em in the truck, and just use the jug to fill the truck and top the jug off at a diesel truck stop as it is cheaper than buying it in a retail store. Ram really has their **** together as far as the emissions + diesel, compared to ford / chevy, you should have 0 issues and as long as you keep it under 70ish, you will be shocked at your mpg's. The def tank is 5 gallons i believe.. how often you have to fill it depends on how you drive, weight ur towing so fourth. All you got to do is fill the tanks and go...
