Does anybody have any idea if the new v6 diesel is gonna have the dpf and the amonia exhaust junk on it. Will that european engine run cleaner and not need it or are we gonna be stuck with it just because its a diesel.

I thought the half ton was getting a small V8 diesel, but yeah it will have the garbage stuff on it

Gotta wonder how Ram winds up with a European diesel with GM affiliation while Nissan, related to Renault, gets a Cummins.
Arrrg; corporate politics.![]()
Ram looked at the 5.0 cummins for the half ton market, but figured, most people buying a half ton diesel over a 3/4 ton diesel do it for fuel economy reason, which they knew cummins was not going to provide in a 5.0 configuration.
the eco diesel will do just fine with the half ton crowd. Its a very proven motor.
Banks performance has already pushed this engine to 650+hp.
I have a friend who was a performance engineer at Cummins Jamestown engine plant. He said Cummins announced the Nissan deal in the early spring but Nissan waited cause they were haveing frame problems.
The Cummins is still going to get great fuel economy. They went with a motor the owned an manufactured rather then buying one.
It's also been used for sometime and proven vs. a brand new engine
I have to imagine there will be a pretty sizable difference in option cost
