Hello! I’m trying to help my husband with a truck issue that even the local dealer is stumped on. For the last three weeks, the truck stalls when started from a cold start. Once it’s started, it runs fine. No engine codes when flashed and no recent work done on it. Suggestions from the hive? It’s a 5.7 liter HEMI 4th generation truck. He loves this truck so I’m hoping we can get him some help!

How many miles are on it?

It sounds like a pretty minor issue. If it's a fairly high mileage truck, it could be as little as a dirty throttle body, dirty air filter, old crusty spark plugs, or any number of things that weren't done as scheduled according to the manual.

If he recently acquired it and it's got some miles on it, I'd say start with fresh oil, filters, spark plugs, clean the throttle body, then take it for a drive and see what happens.

You'll find videos on YouTube that cover every one of those maintenance items, or just take it to a good local shop.

This truck is his baby so all of this has been done. Thank you anyways! I’ll keep trying!

The last I heard of a truck that was doing that and not setting any codes at all, it was due to aaftermarket air filter, one of those cone shaped ones on the end of a long tube. I think they're sold as a "Cold Air Intake",

It let a bunch of dirt and gunk inside of the throttle body. Just eyeballing it, looked fine. But when wiped with a cloth, it was nasty.

Any aftermarket goodies installed, like the cold air intake?

I'm posting here in case anyone else has this issue. It appears to be the few pump. This is the second replacement in the lifetime of the truck. Hope this helps!

I had this issue recently with a 2023 Classic, started stumbling on start up then moved to stalling on start up. We have recently moved to a different town so using fuel of a different brand. I had a long trip coming up the easiest to check was to go back to my old fuel brand BP 98 Ultimate. Anyway let the tank get very low filled with my old fuel brand and problem gone. The new fuel i was using was also 98 but a different brand. I tested the fuel for Ethanol but that came up nil using the test the show online. So no idea all i know is that a change of fuel fixed it.
