So I have owned my 14 outdoorsman for about a month now and it all of a sudden kicked me a CEL. Truck ran fine so I did some snooping around and couldn't find anything out of the ordinary. Truck went in and apparently its a small evap leak code that came up. They ran a smoke rest and inspected but found no leaks. Anything I can do to prevent this from coming up again?

Had the same issue when my truck was 2 days old. Did the smoke test and nothing, so they cleared the code. A couple days later it popped up again. Took it in and this time it as in their words a hard code and showed up as a tank pressure sensor. Replaced and no issues since.

Have them check the intake manifolts for proper torque. Yes, it will cause a evap leak code p0441 or similar. These Hemsi have that problem. 9ft-lbs or 108in-lbs.

Check your gas cap. Dealership had to give me a new one. That threw the code on my rig as well

That code is for incorrect purge flow. It is different than an Evap leak.

They didn't do anything to it? Just said there is no leak, cleared the code and sent you in your way? If it is setting a code for a leak. And there is no leak. That means there is a problem with the system that monitors for likes. Like a tank pressure sensor or ESIM.

If the EVAP system detects a leak, it will report one of the following codes

P0441 – Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow P0442 – Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small leak) P0450 – Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Malfunction P0451 – Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Range/Performance P0452 – Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Low Input P0453 – Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor High Input P0454 – Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Intermittent P0455 – Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (gross leak) P0456 – EVAP Leak Monitor Small Leak Detected

Your truck isnt stupid, but parts replacing mechanics are. If a part failed your truck can tell you the difference and the dealer can collect your money. You had a smoke test done and no smoke detected under uv light. You could have dirt or a spider/web in your vent tube or a small leak in your intake. Personally I prefer to go with the obvious known issues first. The EVAP runs off from manifold vacuum. The truck won't know the difference in where the leak is.

A small Evap leak (the code he said he had) is monitored with the engine off, while the vehicle is just sitting. Nothing to do with intake vacuum. Or spiders in the purge lines.

Oh I'm mistaken, I thought the engine off small leak test would only come back "inconclusive" not set a code. It would actually have to run the evap monitor twice with the engine at temp and fail to set the mil?

Spiders/dirt in the purge line would be next to impossible. What I meant is at the fresh air vent blocking it's flow.
