I need your input. When I start the truck, twist the knob to D, I need to be standing on the brake pedal or it will chirp the tires and lurch forward. It only does this when I start out in the morning, not if I'm in and out running errands. Not sure if I may have a brake boost problem or a trans problem. Any input is greatly appreciated.
I'm at 4200 miles so I'm going to ask dealer at first oil change.

I don't have it that bad but when the fluids are cold, I get a lurch putting her into drive. It certainly doesn't chirp the tires, though - I would get that checked out.

Cold morning starts my truck lurches forward too, but if you check your rpms they are also a bit higher as well until the engine starts to warm up. So take that into consideration.

If you have 3.92 gears and the 8 speed it is a pretty low gear ratio in first gear. In the morning, especially if it is cool, the engine will idle at around 1500rpm for the first 30sec - 1 minute. If you put it in gear it will lurch forward pretty good if you are not completely standing on the brake, but I haven't had it chirp the tires though.

Are you one of those people that slams it in D about 0.023 seconds after turning the key? Give it 5-10 seconds after actually starting to let the RPM settle slightly. The first second or two after it starts cold in the morning, it can b cranking as much as 1200 rpm. So if you're dropping it in D right away you're basically smashing a trans that's at a dead stop into a rotating force going 1200 RPM.

And an 8spd 3.92 truck does not take a lot of force to chirp the tires. Hell the TC only flashes at about 1500.

Let it warm up more than 3 seconds and it won't do that. My wife does that to mine. She complains about that and I tell her don't turn the key and put it in drive at the same time.

Thanks for the replies. I usually let it sit at least 30 seconds, but I'll give it longer & see if that helps.

Cold start you are running about 1200 rpm. Until it idles down it is possible to get a lurch or clunk in the drive line.

That is a lot of torque to throw at a static drive line.

I wait for the rpms to go below 1000 usually at ~500 before I put the truck into gear. I thinks this will solve things for you.

Just give it a second to get out of the start up phase before putting it in drive.

Thanks, you guys nailed it. I used to let my truck warmup for at least 20 seconds but apparently it takes longer. I've been using the remote start lately & the lurching forward has gone away. Thanks.

My girlfriend isn't allowed to drive my truck anymore cause she does that too. And then hammers it down the road because she's usually late. lol
