Our trucks steering is confounding me. 315,000 kms. New ball joints and a wheel alignment and the truck steers worse than before. It oversteers so I typically have to pull back after making an adjustment. I have a pair of WORX wheels with 35x12.5x20 tires on it. Did not behave like this before the work. Put the original 285x60x20 tires on and it’s better but still not good. Front end was reinspected. All good. What could be the problem? Where else to look? Anybody else have this? I’m afraid this is another problem where I could go door-to-door to different shops, leaving lots of money and no solution.

Who did the alignment? Rams are finicky with the alignment and if i recall correctly, they have to be set to a specific caster/camber that is not necessarily what the factory spec calls for.

Find someone who is experienced with aligning the Ram 2500/3500 and let them take a look at it.

I’ve been wondering about that. Maybe a 4x4 shop would have a better idea?

I've actually had a Ram dealer do it properly, but I've had twice as many do it wrong. You just need to find someone that will align it to Thuren specs.

There is a pdf in this link that gives you the specs. If a shop will align it to these specs it should help. My 3500 never tracked properly until I had this done.

They can hit the spec, but in doing so can cross-caster it. What this means is that one caster adjuster is spun all the way forward and the other all the way back. They both need to go in the same direction, with slight difference in setting, to get it right.
