So since I purchased my Ram in October of 2015, it seems like my fog lights are not tightly fastened. Every bump I hit it looks like they are shaking. Does anyone else have that problem?

I wonder if there is a service bulletin about this. I just wanted to get your opinions before I schedule an appointment at the dealership.

I had this issue, turns out one of the bolts had fallen out. I used a toggle bolt to tighten it back down. I think a zip tie would work well too...

Yeah it has been driving me crazy. I'll look under the truck to see if there's a bolt missing. I should've just looked to begin with.

For me it was the bolt on the outboard side...

I always thought it was the plastic bumper not having enough support/rigidity down there.

I don't have much light to look right now but it looks like nothing is missing. I shook the bumper and surprisingly the fog light housing doesn't move with the bumper moving. I think it's just a faulty design because there is a lot of play in the fog light housing. I guess I'll have to rig something up like my gas pedal...

I feel like I'm being picky about certain things about the vehicle but these things I'm nit-picking shouldn't be an an issue to begin with.

If I remember I'll take a picture of my fix tomorrow in the day...

Here is the location that was missing the bolt on the fog light bracket. As mentioned, I used a toggle bolt to tighten it down. The image is the lower right hand bolt hole on the passenger fog light...

Thanks for remembering to post the pic. I'll have to look at mine tomorrow to compare.

ITs the fog light mount and support. Plastic isn't rigid enough for the support. The Fog light itself uses a spring loaded bolt to get the correct angle that you can adjust. The spring allows the fog light to bounce up and down as its pivoting off the side center axis. I did a projector retrofit on my 14 with the vertical fogs and with the projector weight and that its pushed forward more (more leverage) that they shake more than normal.

My fix was adding another stiffer spring to help stabilize the fog light. Also I added another clip with a through screw to add another mount from the fog light bracket to the bumper plastic mounting frame, both seemed to help. Increased spring pressure will keep the flexing to just the brackets.

I put a spring between the bottom of the housing the wing nut (through the long bolt that adjusts the up and down) When I had my projector fog lights in they would vibrate/shake like crazy.
When I get home I will snap a picture of my setup.

As someone mentioned above where the fog lights bolt onto the truck in not rigid and a little shake is almost something you have to deal with. Believe me, I tried everything to secure them to the truck.

If you put LEDs or HIDs in your fogs the shake will be much more noticeable too.

Thank you all for your input. I'll take everyones advise and try to retrofit something. I like the halogen fogs that retrofit makes but when I contacted them about application on my 2015 Truck, they said they will not work ... sucks because I like how they look better than the stock.

The consensus is you can't fix it. Its the deign of the brackets, supports and how the fog light pivots on a axle to allow adjustment. All you can do is limit it. I did what SportyJames did as well to increase tension on the adjuster to limit some of the shaking.

Only option to fix it would be to design a bracket that mounts directly to the frame area above and to the side and make it rigid with no real adjustability.

I disagree, mine stopped wobbling after using a toggle bolt to tighten it down in the missing bolt location. I have LEDs and they do not bounce.

Is it possible that the adjustment on your trucks is improperly aimed and therefore there is too little tension on the housing?

1st picture is a heavy duty spring tighten down.
2nd picture I used two springs. 3rd is the same.378e39ece6989b346576e1e2ad1adad5.jpgf7a9cfe848f3cedd2162e98eaa70d628.jpg6832a47c20e5829e23c636dd20ba50e2.jpg

With a projector you can't have improper aiming... as you can see the cutoff line at any distance.

Your not running projectors so you have a lot less weight hanging from the mounting point at the back of the housing but the weight is farther forward so it acts like a lever. The OP doesn't have a projector retrofit so his shaking should be minimal as yours. The bulb type doesn't really add weight, but a projector does. But I can guarantee a stock setup still has alittle shake/flex. I know because I ran HIDs in my stock dogs for about a year and due to the increased light/output any small amount of shaking is more pronounced.

Fair enough...makes sense.
