2016 Cummins warranty?

So what are the warranties on a 2016 Cummins? Is it 100,000 mile? 5 year? 6 year? What about the bumper to bumper? 3 year/36,000?

Son is thinking about buying one?

The power train warranty is 5yr/100K miles. The original Bumper to Bumper warranty was 3yr/36K but that kicked in when the day the truck was bought initially, 2016s were starting to sell about August/September of 2015 so there may not be much of that left. Check the driver's door for a manufacturer date, that will give you some idea when the truck was bought originally.

When it comes to the Cummins, powertrain should not be your biggest concern since the engine itself will likely not have any issues during that time especially now that the new water pumps are on from a recall. Your biggest concern should be your emission system since it is many times more likely to have a failure point during that time depending on how the truck is driven. The first biggest thing on the Cummins that will probably give you issues would be the turbo actuator if the vanes are not kept clean and the get clogged up with carbon, but that would be well after the 100k warranty.

FYI, my ‘14 Cummins has been trouble free till 51k miles, that’s when the def/dpf system started throwing codes, warranty on that stuff is 50k.

ouch. Yeah he puts about 35,000 a year on his so wouldn't take long to run that out. He is buying a 2018 2500 with a 6.4 Hemi tomorrow then leaving for North Dakota next week towing his camper and be there for a few months.
