Hi all. New to the groups, and NOT at all mechanically inclined (well maybe a little).
So the power steering on our 2016 1500 just stopped working the other day. Mechanic is unsure exactly the cause, only that it’s definitely electrical.
When you start it in the morning, or after being off for many hours, the power steering works fine. Once you turn engine off, then on again, the power steering doesn’t work.
Again, wait a few hours and it’s fine again (until you turn off the engine).
We’ve ordered a new (used) power steering rack. I’m just curious if anyone has had experience with this and if the know the cause (and if replacing the steering rack will resolve it. Thanks in advance.
